Originally recorded in 1985 and actually got a little local airplay, but the master tape sat for many years. I went back to try to restore the tape and remix and remaster the whole thing, but the tape was in too bad of shape to do anything with. I'm still heartbroken to not have a good copy of the original songs to listen to, but I still loved the songs and wanted to hear them again.
I decided to record them over again from scratch, playing all the tracks myself. I was as meticulous as I could to stay true to the original songs, opting not to produce it any further than it was before - it was tempting to say the least, because the songs have so much potential, but I wanted them to be like they were originally.
It is important to remember that I can't take all the credit for these song.s I wrote the lyrics on them all, but the musical arrangements were a collaboration between me, Brian Bland and Jeff Wyatt. We literally wrote them together in Jeff's basement, jam session after jam session. At that time, we were known in Atlanta as Zanzibar Cat.
